About us
Groupe INTERCAR started business in 1959 but in 1990, Jasmin Gilbert and his sister Jocelyne took the necessary steps to make the organization what it is today in acquiring the transport networks of Compagnie Voyageur in Saguenay and in Côte-Nord. It is also during that same period that the third generation of the Gilbert family got involved in INTERCAR, welcoming Hugo Gilbert in the organization.
Some highlights of our history:
1959 - Birth of the company.
1959 to 1985 - Important regional development.
1985 - Acquisition of Autocars Fournier Inc.
1990 - Acquisition of Compagnie Voyageur (Saguenay and Côte-Nord routes).
1998 - First development in school transportation in Quebec City.
2000 - Extension of the intercity network to Sept-Îles.
2000 - Acquisition of the regional cooperative 03 in the Quebec City area (27 school vehicles).
2001 - Acquisition of the Saguenay division of Groupe Gaudreault (125 school vehicles).
2002 - Creation of the Georges Gilbert Foundation to help underprivileged youth in the Saguenay region.
Today, Intercar is :
- 40 million annual net sales (excluding pandemic);
- 585 employees;
- 280 school, intercity, charter and adapted vehicles;
- 80 transport and towing units;
- We are a 3rd generation family business and proud of it!;
- We transport more than 250,000 people annually with our vehicles!
